Dr. Paul Santerre (IBBME, Dentistry) was nominated to be the recipient of this year’s Canadian Biomaterial Society’s (CBS) lifetime achievement award. This achievement was awarded on the basis of significant contribution to the field of biomaterials.
Dr. Santerre’s is a Professor & Baxter Chair in Health Technology and Commercialization (UHN). During his time at the University of Toronto Dr. Santerre has been at the forefront of research and commercialization. Dr. Santerre has published more than 180 peer reviewed publications and is an inventor of more than 60 patents on the topics of tissue regeneration, polymer design, and drug delivery.
Dr. Santerre has also been a proponent of technology translation. As the co-director of Health Innovation Hub (H2i), this venture has been one of the key accelerators that help graduate students and researchers commercialize their work. Dr. Santerre is also an entrepreneur involved in multiple start-up companies such as Interface Biologics and Cohesys.
