IBBME is delighted to welcome Dr. José Zariffa to the Institute as an Assistant Professor in both the Engineering in a Clinical Setting and the Neural, Sensory System & Rehabilitation themes.
Dr. Zariffa received his Ph.D. degree in 2009 from the University of Toronto’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering, before taking on a post-doctoral fellowship at the International Collaboration On Repair Discoveries (ICORD) and the University of British Columbia’s Department of Computer Science in Vancouver, Canada, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, where he was supported by Spinal Cord Injury Ontario.
As well as maintaining a faculty position at IBBME, Dr. Zariffa is a Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. His areas of research interest include neural prostheses, interfaces with the peripheral nervous system, and upper limb rehabilitation after spinal cord injury.
